Amy Goodman and Democracy now have great podcasts. I consider the advent of disinformation a new if not disgusting artform. Goodman sets it straight.
Sage Francis has a powerful new CD titled "human the death dance".
The latest Kings of Leon CD is worthwhile music. Attractively non political. Escapism.

Why should people, especially youth, vote?

Your Vote is  the single most important way to voice your idea of what the future should be.
Youth should vote because they are the generation with the least risk of being  politicized. They tend to keep it simple. Why is school so damn expensive? Why is my brother fighting in Afghanistan when Canada has always been known as a "peacekeeping" country?...

For you, is there a connection between art and democracy? What is it?

I have been soured by democracy of late.
Democracy has raped our planet, caused an enormous gap between the rich and poor and driven our nervous systems to the brink.
Art has, for the most part, followed suit. Even the counter culture has become a cliche.
The most intriguing artists for me these days are people like Jared Paul, Saul Williams, Banksy. Their words/paintings are unfiltered and beyond relevant.

Why do you care about community, when it is so easy not to?

I care about community because i am fortunate enough to not have to worry about  the basic needs of life. In the hopes of being a decent human being... I give a shit.
Not as much as I should. I'm more of a Monday morning social activist. Baby steps.

What do you look for in a politician? What do you expect from your MP?

I have little faith in politicians. It was beyond my wildest dreams to think Darfur would be worse off now than when I traveled there in 2004.
Watching Iraq dissolve into chaos under a Bush regime that is nothing more than an illusion has been devastating. Watching Stephen Harper and the Conservative Government become romantically linked with Bush is also a joke, especially considering how Canada was actually beginning to distinguish itself from the Republican superpower.

Your MP? Well they should  work for the people. They should do their  job! Represent the people fully and completely.
