Are you between 12 and 18 years old? Do you have something to say about eliminating racism in your community? Now is the time to stand up and speak out by participating in the Racism. Stop It! National Video Competition, part of Canada's March 21 campaign against racial discrimination.


And the winner is...


Ten videos will be chosen as winners, based on the quality, originality and effectiveness of the Racism. Stop It! message. The winning videos will be broadcast on national television, reaching millions of Canadians. Other prizes include an all expenses-paid trip to Canada's Capital Region and awesome gear from Panasonic Canada...but you have to participate for a chance to win!

Here is the information on the Racism. Stop It! National Video Competition:


Deadline for entries is Friday, January 18, 2008



  • You can enter if you are 12 to 18 years of age (as of March 21, 2008).

  • Your video must be between 45 and 60 seconds long (45 seconds to 1 minute).

  • Your video can be either English, French, or bilingual.

  • Your video can be submitted on Mini-DV tape, DVD or VHS tape.

  • Your production team can have up to 5 people on it, but you can have as many people as you like in your video.

  • You and your team can get help, but your video has to be your own idea and your own creative effort.

  • At the end of your video, each team member must state his/her name, address and telephone number.

  • If you have more than one take on your tape, cue the tape up to the cut you want us to judge.

  • Don't forget to keep a copy for yourself. Entries will not be returned.


Categories


Entries will be divided into two age groups (12-15) and (16-18). Five winning videos will be selected from each age group. All participants will receive a certificate of achievement.


Judging Criteria


You'll be judged on creativity, originality, and the effectiveness of your anti-racism message. Production quality is also important. Remember, the winning videos will be shown on national television.
