CALL for proposals: HOLIDAY WINDOW

What can I do? Artists Needed

Category: Art

When: 09:00 AM December 1, 2007 to 09:06 AM November 15, 2007

Deadline for the reception of proposals : Saturday, December 1st 2007

To finish off 2007 with a bang La Centrale Galerie Powerhouse is inviting artists and artist collectives to submit project proposals that will function as an intervention tailored for the gallery’s storefront window and/or the gallery space.  We welcome projects that interrogate, critique or are inspired by the winter holiday season.

This season’s flashiness and overabundance makes for a perfect opportunity to juxtapose artists’ ideas in a context of seasonal festivity. La Centrale would like to take advantage of its location and context in the heart of St. Laurent Blvd in order to offer artists the chance to exhibit during the day and night in this highly visible space.  The gallery will be closed during the duration of the exhibit, so the installation must be visible from the exterior of the gallery.

Technical requirements :

· The artist or collective of artists must mount their piece between the 7th and the 14th of December 2007
· The piece must be self sufficient -  meaning that it does not require any maintenance during the course of the exhibition (the 14th of December to the 4th of January 2007), which excludes video or sound pieces.

Given that the programming committee has very little time to review submitted projects, we recommend that your submissions strictly adhere to the following guidelines regarding support material:

·  An artist statement of maximum 250 words
·  A project description of maximum 250 words - including sketches or technical descriptions
·  A maximum of 10 clearly identified digital images (jpg format, 500k max each)
·  A maximum of  1 DVD which is clearly marked (5 minutes of video footage max)
·  A descriptive list of all support material (titles, dates, dimensions, medium)

Please submissions to the attention of the programming commitee.
Submissions are welcome by email at programmation@lacentrale.org
For submissions by mail, please be sure to include a self-addressed STAMPED enveloppe.

Please read our Mandate for more information about our guidelines
