Contemporary Art vs. Apathy ... An informal call for artists

What can I do? Artists Needed

Category: Art

When: 10:19 PM December 2, 2007 to 10:20 PM January 31, 2008

Greetings,

My name is Milena and I am a curator of contemporary art. I have recently started working on an exhibition about apathy because I would like to explore why so many people find it socially acceptable, and more importantly, I would like to help counter it.

I anticipate that this exhibition will launch in 2009 and I would like it to feature work by 4 - 6 Canadian artists. As part of my research process, I would like to invite Canadian artist working in video and new media (intervention, installation, and/or performance) to get in touch with me. If you have ideas for a project that explores the root causes of apathy and stimulates social and political engagement, I would love to hear from you!

Please note that this is not a formal call and I am not expecting to receive formal applications... I’m just interested in starting conversations with artists who’s work is new to me. So, please drop me a line with your ideas, and if you can add some inks to your past work, that would be very helpful, as well.

Thank you in advance; I look forward to hearing from you!

All the best,
Milena
