Foreign Aid: What Should We Do?

What can I do? Attend a Conference

Category: Poverty

When: 11:30 AM February 13, 2008 to 02:00 PM February 13, 2008

The Montreal Economic Institue in collaboration with The Montreal Council on Foreign Relations invites you to attend a luncheon speech with John Watson, President and CEO of CARE Canada (1987-2007).

Obtaining tangible results should be the only preoccupation in the fight against poverty. For Dr. Watson, in order to accomplish such a mission, policy-makers should look at all the potential offered by market mechanisms.

In his talk, Dr. John Watson will review some of the work of well known market-oriented thinkers and what it means for the future of overseas development assistance and Canada's role in the Third World.

Dr. Watson was most recently President and CEO of CARE Canada. Over the past twenty years at CARE, he led the organization through unprecedented innovation and growth to make it one of the leading development agencies in Canada. John Watson is now a Senior Fellow at the Munk Center of the University of Toronto and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Ottawa.
