Tatamagouche Summer Free School

What can I do? Show Up

Category: Youth

When: 10:30 AM August 23, 2007 to 10:30 AM August 26, 2007

You are invited to the third annual Tatamagouche Summer Free School.

Last summer, 50 people gathered at Waldegrave Farm in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia to share skills, knowledge - and amazing food. Discussions, workshops and seminars on everything from the science and perils of nanotechnology, to anti-poverty movements in the Maritimes, to a hands-on mathematics investigation into platonic solids, took place over four days in mid-August. Evenings were filled with concerts, films, and discussions.

From August 23th to 26th, we will share our accumulated knowledge of matters practical and theoretical. We will also swim, discuss, listen to live music, eat amazing food (much of it grown on the premises) watch movies and hang out with friends old and new.

You're invited to participate. The Free School stemmed from the realization that we all have a lot to teach, but very few venues in which to share our knowledge in a direct and serious way.

If you're interested in participating in the Free School, you'll be as much a part of defining the school as any other individual. I hope you'll consider proposing a session or organizing a discussion group, on a topic that you think could benefit from more attention, or is otherwise compelling.

If you choose to participate, please invite others, using this invitation. Instead of forwarding it, though, please copy and paste it into a new message, address it to the invitee, and change the text to add any details that are important or particularly relevant to that person.

The Free School relies entirely on the participation of those who show up, and publicity is entirely word of mouth.

What it is, is up to us.
