Organization Profile: TakingITGlobal

Headquartered in Toronto, TakingITGlobal is an online organization whose main objective is to bring young people from all over the world together to learn, be inspired, and get involved in global issues. TIG’s vision is to strengthen the capacity of young people as leaders and citizens, to foster cross-cultural dialogue and understanding, as well as to increase youth awareness and involvement in global issues. With more than 193,955 members in 261 countries and outreach in 757 schools worldwide. TIG collaborates with other global partners such as United Nations agencies, major companies and youth-focused organizations.
Issues
TIG is committed to ensuring that young people are informed about global challenges, including globalization, sustainable development, genocide, and the Millennium Development Goals. TIG’s website provides a wide range of information on many topics such as:
- peace, conflict and governance;
- art and media;
- health and wellness;
- environment and urbanization;
- human rights and equity;
- technology and innovation;
- learning and education;
- work and economics;
- culture and identity.
On the TIG website, the “Take Action” link provides all the necessary information on how to get involved. Features such as the “Guide to Action” link allow you to make or sign a commitment for a better world, teach effective ways of organizing open forums, and show you how to create petitions, start projects, and voice your opinion on the global stage. The workshop kit also is a step by step guide for young people trying to organize a successful workshop.

If you’re making a difference in your community and want to share your accomplishment with youth around the world, the TIG magazine is a great way to spread the word.
