KICK OFF CONCERT IN QUEBEC CITY: Every Party Should be Democratic

What’s your vision for Democracy? Apathy is Boring asks youth.

Montreal, July 30, 2008 – Apathy is Boring, in collaboration with Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, invite youth to be part of the first concert in a series of free concerts, on Wednesday August 13, 2008 at Université Laval, in Québec City. This concert is an integral part of the 4th World Youth Congress.

Apathy is Boring‘s 2008 Concert Series, featuring artists Jully Black, Samian, Ariane Moffat, Stephanie Hardy, ill Scarlett and more, is coming to three cities across Canada (Quebec City, Halifax and Montreal) this summer and fall. By using music to inspire, educate, and motivate youth, this concert series aims to promote the idea that democracy is more than voting and that apathy … is boring.

6:30 to 9:30 p.m.: Youth Dialogue with Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada (by invitation only) with special guests: Ariane Moffat, Samian, Jully Black, K’naan, Jordan Croucher, and Sol Guy (4Real MTV).

10:00 p.m.: Free Concert with Jully Black, K’naan, Jordan Croucher

About Apathy is Boring

Since 2004, Apathy is Boring is a national, non partisan non-profit organization whose mission is to educate and motivate youth to become active citizens by using live music, art and technology. The 2008 Concert Series, dubbed a social experiment in direct democracy, will bring together artists, community leaders, not-for-profit organizations, and youth for an evening of music and dialogue that will showcase the many ways youth can meaningfully engage in democracy.
