Founded in January 2004, Apathy is Boring is a national youth-led non-partisan, charitable organization that uses art and technology to educate youth about democracy. Through concerts, social media, www.apathyisboring.com, workshops, and election campaigns, we work get the message out that apathy is boring, and democracy is sexy.

 

 

Reporting to the Website & Technology Coordinator, the Website Intern will assist with the building of a new website. This will involve working to implement the design and specifications in WordPress, and to import content and databases into the site. The intern will also assist with the maintenance of Apathy is Boring’s websites apathyisboring.com and citizenfactory.com, which will involve working with Ruby on Rails. The intern is also expected to represent Apathy is Boring at various events and information booths.

 

- Good understanding of Wordpress and Ruby on Rails as well as related technologies (php, databases, etc.);
- Excellent attention to detail and proven track record of accuracy;
- Experience working with volunteers or in a management capacity;
- Ability to take initiative and to work independently;
- Strong interpersonal skills - outgoing, friendly, and flexible;
- High personal integrity, honesty and professional standards; A sense of humour, quick wit, and positive attitude are essential.
